General
What is Accesimo and how does it help my store?
Accesimo helps make your Shopify store more accessible and usable for everyone, including customers with disabilities. It provides an accessibility overlay for visitors and automated accessibility scanning that helps you identify and improve accessibility issues over time. Accesimo supports accessibility efforts but does not replace good design or manual testing.
Will Accesimo slow down my store?
No. Accesimo is built for performance. The overlay loads asynchronously, scans run in the background, and your storefront performance is not affected.
Is my store data secure?
Yes. Accesimo only accesses the data needed for accessibility analysis. No customer payment or personal data is stored. All data is handled using industry best practices.
How do I contact support?
You can contact support by submitting a ticket through the app or by joining our Discord community. We typically respond within 24 hours.
Scanning & Issues
How often does Accesimo scan my store?
Accesimo runs automated scans on a regular schedule (commonly daily).
What types of accessibility issues does Accesimo detect?
Accesimo detects a range of common accessibility issues such as missing alt text, contrast-related issues, missing form labels, keyboard navigation concerns, heading structure problems, and unclear link text. Automated tools cannot detect every accessibility barrier, and some issues require manual testing.
How do I fix the issues Accesimo finds?
Each issue includes context such as what was found, why it matters, and where it appears. Fix guidance is provided, and some improvements may be available as optional runtime enhancements depending on your plan and configuration.
AutoFix
What is AutoFix?
AutoFix provides optional runtime accessibility improvements that help reduce common accessibility barriers without modifying your theme files or code. It adjusts accessibility-related properties behind the scenes to improve assistive support for users who need it, serving as a temporary aid until issues are addressed permanently at the source.
Is AutoFix safe to use?
AutoFix is designed to be non-destructive. It can typically be enabled or disabled at any time. It does not change your visible UI in any way.
How do I turn AutoFix on or off?
Go to the Accesimo Settings page and toggle AutoFix on or off (if available on your plan). Changes apply after storefront refresh.
AI Features
Does Accesimo use AI?
Yes. Accesimo uses AI to generate insights (for example, in the Overview experience) and to generate alt text suggestions for images with alt-text issues.
Is there a limit for AI features?
Yes. Each store has a monthly AI usage cap. By default, the cap is approximately $1 USD in AI usage per month, which is typically enough for more than ~1500 image alt-text generations plus additional AI insights. Actual totals may vary based on content and usage.
Will I be overcharged if I exceed the AI limit?
No. If you reach the monthly AI cap, AI features will be unavailable until the next billing cycle resets the monthly allowance.
Reports & Compliance
What kind of reports does Accesimo provide?
Accesimo provides informational accessibility monitoring reports that summarize detected issues, severity levels, and trends over time. Reports are not legal certifications and should be used as part of an ongoing accessibility improvement process.
Does Accesimo guarantee ADA or WCAG compliance?
No. Accesimo supports accessibility efforts but cannot guarantee legal compliance. Accessibility depends on many factors including content, theme code, third-party apps, and manual testing.
Assistive Overlay
How do I install the accessibility overlay on my store?
To enable the overlay, open Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds. Find “Accesimo Overlay” and toggle it on. The accessibility button should appear on your storefront once enabled.
What accessibility features does the overlay provide?
The overlay provides a set of 28+ assistive accessibility tools (such as text size adjustments, contrast modes, reading aids, focus visibility enhancements, keyboard-related helpers, and motion-related controls).
Can I customize the overlay button?
Yes. You can customize the styling of the overlay panel and widget (such as color, icon, size, position, and more) from the Overlay page in Accesimo.
Accessibility Badge
How do I add the accessibility badge to my store?
You can add the badge through the Shopify theme editor. Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize, then add the Accesimo Badge (as an app block/section where supported by your theme). You can also code-embed it if needed.
What does the accessibility badge mean?
The badge indicates that the store provides accessibility tools and actively works on accessibility improvements. It is a trust signal and does not represent a legal compliance certification.
Can I customize the badge design?
Yes. You can customize the badge styling (such as colors, icon, size, and more) to match your brand, depending on your plan.
Where should I place the badge?
Common placements include the footer, an About page, an Accessibility page, or near other trust elements. Placement depends on your store layout and preference.
Biling & Plans
How do I change or cancel my plan?
You can manage your plan from Accessimo settings page by pressing on Manage Plans button, or from Shopify Admin → Apps.
